WHY DO I WANT TO BE AT SAFEHAVEN?
(A letter from one of our residents)
I have spent much of my life just existing. Besides the 4 years of sobriety I have always been in addiction so my lifestyle has been everything but stable. Safehaven to me represents a new life free from the bondage of addiction. It offers structure and support but above all it means family and stability. This is what I have been searching for my whole life. It means a like minded family that understands my disease. It's my last chance at getting it right. In just the few weeks I have been here it's become home. A place I can go that I know is safe with people I can tell exactly what's going on and not be judged. When things go crazy in my world I have people who care about me and want to see me sober and to succeed in life.
They have shown me grace and mercy. They have loved me when I have been unlovable. For the first time ever someone was able to see the "real" me. To my amazement they love me anyway. I want to be at Safehaven because it's my family. It's Home. It represents everything that I have been desperately seeking with the drugs and alcohol. It means peace and serenity. It's my last chance at becoming a productive member of society. It's HOME! It's FAMILY. It's my SANCTUARY!! It's the start of a new chapter in my life where I am no longer a burden but a BEACON of Hope for others just like myself. It's MY SAFEHAVEN!
Reasons I Want to Stay AT Safehaven
